Yanchep is a suburb of City of Wanneroo located 56 kilometres north of Perth, Western Australia. It is a popular tourist destination built by entrepreneur Alan Bond.
Among the tourist attractions during the 1980s, are the Atlantis Marine Park and the Sun City Marina. Atlantis Marine Park was built in 1981 in Two Rocks, 60 kilometres north of Perth. Six months before the park was opened, 7 bottlenose dolphins were captured from the wild and trained as performance animals. However, with the birth of additional 3 calves, changes in regulations for holding marine animals and the fact that the park is incurring losses, the owners decided to cut losses and closed the park down in 1990 instead of constructing a larger enclosure for the dolphins as required. The Sun City Marina in Two Rocks, 6 kilometres north of Yanchep is the largest marina in Australia where charter fishing facilities are available to take the anglers to sea.
Yanchep National Park which is situated east of the town provides guided tours to Crystal Cave, bushwalks, Koala displays and the Loch McNess Lake. The vegetation includes tuart, jarrah, marri, scrub and banksias whereas the wildlife includes possums, goannas, lizards, kangaroos and tortoises. There are horse riding and camel riding to choose from when venturing along the the trails.
Yanchep boasts of 2 golf courses one a 18-hole and another 9-hole. St. Andrews Golf Course is of international standards.
Modern shopping complex is an attraction as well. Not to mention the lovely beaches to soak in the sun. Accommodation varies from the beachside accommodation, caravan sites to the Yanchep Inn in the National Park.
