Lancelin is a small fishing and tourist town located 94 kms north of Perth or an hours drive. The town is located along the natural bay protected from the Indian Ocean by reefs and islands.
It is an ideal place to swim, fish, boat and participate in other water activities. The two jetties are a hive of activity providing a platform for a fleet of rock lobster boats to unload their catch.
Lancelin also provides a suitable environment for snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing and wave sailing. Water sports equipment can be hired in town itself.
Lancelin is world famous for its dive trail. There are 14 shipwrecks in its waters to cater for the experienced scuba diver to explore.
The wind surfers also have their share of fun as the wind and water conditions in this protected bay are ideal for such an activity whereas Back Beach is ideal for body-boarding, surfing, swimming and sunbathing.
The white sand dunes on the east of the town are a heaven for sand boarders, dune buggy drivers, motor bikers and four wheel drivers. From the top of the sand dunes, once can overlook the whole township, surrounding sand hills, farmlands, coastline, islands and ocean.
Moreover, there is plenty of marine wildlife for example. sea lions on Lancelin Island and wild dolphins which frequent the bay daily. There is also an abundance of birdlife on the islands and wildflowers blooming in the spring in the nature reserves.
Many tourism related industries have sprung up to cater for tourists. Accommodation choices varied from hostel and caravan parks to motels and cottages. There are also many fine restaurants, cafes and takeaways food outlets.
