Jandakot Airport which was established in 1963 initially serves as a place for pilot testing and domestic plane flights. In 1998, Jandakot Airport Holdings bought the formerly unproductive farm land and woodland for a 50 year lease with a 49 year option to operate the Airport including surrounding conservation reserve. International Airlines such as Singapore Airlines and China Southern Airlines also operate flying colleges and student accommodation facilities at the airport.

On top of that, there are charter flights in and out for staff of remote mining companies. A memorial is also set up and is dedicated to Robin Miller who as a nurse and RFDS pilot flew vaccinations to remote Western Australian communities. There is a café overlooking the runaway for you to relax and watch the world go by.

A wide variety of native flora species, about 290 have been identified in its natural environment including the endangered Grand Spider Orchid. Not to mention, over 100 fauna species have also been identified and when the sun sets, the Southern Brown Bandicoot and kangaroos can be seen feeding on the grassland within the conservation reserve.
