Two hundred and fifty kilometres north of Perth you'll find one of the most unusual and striking sights in Australia, The Pinnacles, situated in Nambung National Park.

The best way to see the Pinnacles is by conducted tour from Perth or by tour from Cervantes, the nearest town, which is situated at the only entrance to the Park.

The Pinnacles :-
A large area of strange limestone formations rearing up into the sky like giant needles.

Seventeenth century Dutch sailors observing them as they passed by sea were sure that they were the ruins of an ancient city built by a forgotten civilization. Since they cover several hundred hectares it is easy to understand this misconception. They are however, a purely natural phenomena.

In recent times international fashion photographers have often used the the area as a dramatic setting for photo shoots. With the resulting photos appearing in many of the world's leading fashion magazines.

The Pinnacles were soft limestone covered by sea shell sand dunes. Over thousands of years rainwater hardened the limestone into cement but they were still covered by sand. Then the prevailing sea winds gradually blew away the sand to reveal the Pinnacles.
