International and interstate visitors to the green and clean South West corner of Western Australia often remark that Augusta, a seaside hamlet with a naturally beautiful setting, is one of the best kept secrets in a State full of tourism surprises.

Situated just 3km from the heart of town, the four chalets nestle high on the hillside next to the towering karri trees of the Leeuwin Naturaliste National park, enjoying panoramic forest and rural views from a point 300ft above sea level.

Three of the four timber chalets each sleep up to eight people.

Each Sheoak Chalet is fully self-contained with under cover parking and a range of extras, either built-in or provided.

These include queen beds, all linen and doonas (duvets) supplied, microwave oven, gas stove, washing machine, TV, outdoor barbecue, refrigerator and stainless steel cooking utensils.

Chalet 4 has been specifically designed and constructed with disabled customers in mind. Builder and proprietor, Steve Williams, has ensured that this chalet meets the stringent requirements of Australian Standard 1428i. Hence it features beds fitted with a body-lifting device, wide doorways, low windows, handrails in both bathroom and toilet, wide shower units and wide toilets for wheelchair use.

This chalet can accommodate up to 16 people in perfect comfort and is big enough to be used for functions such as wedding receptions and birthday parties.

Other attractions include a permanent supply of potable rainwater, a clean and green unpolluted forest environment, a perfectly relaxed setting, two tame kangaroos and you can feed the beautiful blue wrens on the front verandah.

All this in a peaceful bushland surroundings, backed by friendly managers and staff.

It's the ideal holiday venue for those who fancy sampling the famous wines of the Margaret River region (just minutes up the road from Sheoak) or for those who will visit Augusta for its many natural attractions.
